WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING
I do not agree with everything Dexmond said. I’m a person of faith and I strongly believe in God. But Dexmond is such a wise boy. Many of his jokes were borderline but they were not offensive. It was such a good show. If anything, his performance is making me take my own faith much more seriously.

As I walked out of the show, the show also walked out with me. Because I still catch myself giggling when I see the imprints and implications of the jokes on religion. It was a “laugh-till-your-cheeks-hurt-and-think-while-you’re-at-it kind of show. Not sure whether to say it was a brilliant show that was funny or a funny show that was brilliant. Honestly, I’m still thinking.

Even though he shared uncomfortable truths, I appreciate how respectful Dexmond was about the issue. This is something most comedians don’t know how to do. This is an important conversation that needs to be had and putting in jokes is truly beautiful. The court jesters of old were truth tellers to kings. So comedians have always played an important role in society. And seeing someone so young put out a message this valid, I’m very proud.
